Salton Sea with BSchoolers!

On Tuesday Heather and I ventured out to the desert with 21 other fellow photographers for a fun day of shooting. It's really such a great way to not only exercise your creativity but to interact with others as a lot of us spend most of our work days alone. It's just me, my computer, and a boyfriend in huge headphones here. The Salton Sea is a really bizarre landscape- just deserted structures and calcified fish- strangely beautiful. We started at the North Shore...

I like shooting landscape and objects and all, but I really would rather have a person in range. You'll see Heather is in a lot of these- oftentimes we end up acting as each others muses out of sheer desperation for a model! It's great to shoot someone you know so well though- natural expressions come easy.

The following set ups we done just before sunset using three Canon Speedlight flashes, one on camera, and two hand held from both the left and right and a reflector bouncing the sunlight onto the subjects face. We started out just doing the trailer, then three of us, and then ended up getting almost everyone in one! Everyone was shot individually and then composed in photoshop.
