A weekend fitness update... and ..I can't help myself again...Hanson?

I am, in general, a pretty healthy person. I don't drink much, I don't smoke, I go to the gym pretty regularly, enjoy a good hike, eat really healthy except for the occasional slice of pizza, bowl of Cherry Garcia, or a cookie or two..or three. However, recently I felt a little stall in my metabolism. Can't eat as much and maintain the same weight I am used to. Inspired by Heather's recent dive into personal training I decided to sign myself up with a trainer as well. Like I said before, I'm a pretty healthy person and I generally feel like I'm in pretty good shape. I can run a couple miles without being too winded- I can lift a decent amount of weight, etc. Weellll- Apparently I was wrong. Desperately wrong. I am in NO shape at ALL! I had my first training session this morning and although I managed to make it through the work out all right, stopping here and there to let my heart rest a bit- the minute I sat down in the chair across from my new torturer I felt the corners of my eyes going black. I muttered something like, "Jason, I'm feeling a little...." Wham! Next thing I know Jason's got me on the floor with my feet elevated and a wet towel draped across my neck. Once the nausea subsided the embarrassment set in. Jason assured me that this happens quite frequently, daily even, and he's glad he knows my body's reaction and urged me to eat a little more before our next session. Our NEXT session??? Help! I'll have wedding stuff up later .... I'm just feeling personal today. Stolen from Amy's Myspace... just a little current photo from a big part of my past. I have to admit I'm a little ...what's the word I'm looking for here.. uncomfortable? with the rate of reproduction these boys believe in. Seems like every time I decide to check up on their website one of them has pro-created! I'm not against more Hanson's genes in the general gene pool of humanity but... I mean, it seems like it's getting a little out of hand. I mean, I think between the three of them- all under 30 (the youngest being like, 22?) they have, like, 7 kids now.. or something? Mom, you've got my back right? And don't you think Taylor's jacket is made for a woman? What is with that?

Update: I've though about this some more, and I think my discomfort with their rate of reproduction could possibly be stemming from, embarrassingly enough, jealously. Perhaps it's not that they're popping babies out like they are hit singles- perhaps it's just that they aren't popping them out with me? .... Nahhhhhhhh, couldn't be!

Twilight - Entertainment Weekly - Stephenie Meyer - Can't help myself..

Obsessed! Can't wait to open Eclipse the minute the plane takes off to Hawaii. 6 hours of uninterrupted Edward Cullen reading. Can't wait for the movie... love these photos- particularly the rain one. Perhaps a future bride and groom would like to have masochistic romantic vampire themed engagement session? It's a long shot I know...

Off to shoot a wedding at Wayfarers this evening!

Hope those waited in line for that dumb new phone are enjoying it.. cough cough... ;)

P.S. Follow me on twitter?

Happy 4th of July!

This morning I slept in (well for me, 9AM felt great) .. I plan to head to the Coffee Bean, relax, take a nice long trip to the gym, then eat some BBQ with Echo Park/Los Feliz/ Silverlake kids. This isn't our normal 4th of July and Timmy is punishing me for it. His sad little face this morning prompted me to make this statement, "From here on out, 4th of July weekend will be my one weekend of the summer I am unavailable for weddings!" Even though I am so excited for Ileana and Carlos's beautiful event tomorrow at The Victorian in Santa Monica, I'm pretty bummed we're missing the block party that has taken place on the street I grew up since I was, perhaps, 5 or so. Anyone who knows me, knows how much my family means to me and missing this particular event for some reason feels painful! It was our families tradition and now, 5 1/2 years into Tim and I's relationship it's become our tradition and we're missing it this year. Never fear though, as Tim said minutes ago from over his computer screen, "We'll make it through this year, learn our lesson, and be there next year."

So Ileana and Carlos this year, Arbor Dr. next year! All is well, HAPPY 4th OF JULY!

(Some Arbor Dr. pics from last year.)

My new literary love and other updates.

I've been MIA all week- but ya know, I'm enjoying life not just blogging about it. :) Truth is, starting this weekend I am on a July wedding extravaganza until I leave for Hawaii so I'm just trying to relax and enjoy the calm before the storm, all the while secretly obsessing with goals I am attempting to accomplish by the new year. Two wedding at Wayfarers this Saturday though- should be fun! A few things.... if you are a reader, a novel lover, one who has a new literary love monthly you must pick up Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Don't judge a book by it's cover- or section at the book store, rather (the cover is quite nice). Although located in the "Teen Lit" aisle, it's impressive. I have been vocal about this, but I'll say it again- I've been in a bit of a book slump lately- starting and not finishing many a novel (much to Timmy's chagrin- our bedside table looks like a library cart full of books waiting to be refiled) but my dear friend Ashley turned me onto this beautiful love story. I won't give anything away because part of my fascination with the book began with not knowing anything about it - but be prepared to fall in love with a vampire. It's got Lestat written all over it. Oh Edward Cullen and that crooked smile of yours, be mine forever? (Don't worry, Timmy, I won't leave for a fictional character... I don't think....)

On that note- who has my copy of The Time Travelers Wife? I am aching to revist my last literary love, Henry DeTamble. Come back to me!

Also, last Friday while vegging out on the couch I decided to go ahead and rent a horrible move from OnDemand (my new favorite movie renting source). Scrolling... scrolling... ah yes, 27 Dresses will do. Okay, so it wasn't that horrible, but I have a point here. I came across the work of a lovely lovely song man named Ray LaMontagne. Download "Be Here Now" and see the future. Well, maybe not, but close your eyes and enjoy!

I can't leave you photo-less, here are some vintage images of my nearest and dearest friend Gabe! Vintage as in, senior year of college... spiced up with a little Totally Rad Actions: The Revenge. If I recall, Gabe was a real trooper- broke out in ragweed induced hives as soon as the shoot was over.

Have a wonderful weekend, we will most likely meet again Sunday Morning... rain is falling... steal some color share some... oh okay, fine, I'm done... ciao!

Look what we got!!!!

A piano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A real upright, ivory keys, beautiful piano! I know my blogging has been lacking lately- it's the busy season for us wedding photographers and I've been scrambling for free time to paint the walls of our new office, buy rugs, buy lamps, paint trim, hang photos, hang shelves (okay Timmy does most of that stuff)... and well.... eat, sleep, and breathe! (not to mention WORK OUT with that Hawaii trip coming) ... but this piano, it was too beautiful not to blog. It's going in our music room, which is supposed to be the dining room, but who needs a dining room? Tim and I couldn't be happier where we both our in our lives right now and this piano really just adds to our happy home.

Things are good.

We got a piano.
