Bay Area Engagement Photos: Jacquelyn and Nate : From Southern CA to Northern CA in a weekend

Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I did my best not to labor much but shot a gorgeous wedding on Saturday and spent lots of time working on the house. I've barely had a minute to spare to even tell you guys about this house we bought but I am working on a post (with images!) for you soon. Things slow down a bit in the next two months and I'm looking forward to having some time to focus on production work instead of so much shooting! (Although, I can't complain much! :) )

Jacquelyn and Nate and I spent two days together for their engagement session as they live in Southern CA but spend a lot of time in Northern CA and really picture themselves in both locations. I was shooting a wedding in LA in July so we were able to start their session down in the OC and finish up here in San Jose! Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. :) These two are absolutely gorgeous and were a complete joy to photograph.

Now, on a completely photographic level, their first location was not the easiest spots to photograph in to put it bluntly. However, I always encourage my clients to chose locations with meaning behind them and this place had some serious sentimental value for them so I was definitely up for the challenge! Although, when Jacquelyn told me it was called Le Cave, I'm going to be honest, I got nervous. Let me tell you, a CAVE it was! Nate led me down the elavator and my eyes seriously couldn't even adjust at first, I couldn't see a thing. Because I was traveling by plane for my wedding that weekend I couldn't pack as much lighting as I would have had it been local so we made do with one strobe/umbrella kit and two of those industrial lights from home depot. And honestly, it seriously inspired me. I was having a BALL. It was really refreshing to problem solve and think on the fly like that. I really love these images :)

After our early afternoon session at Le Cave we were originally planning on heading to the beach but it was still pretty bright outside (and you know me and natural light!) so we made a totally spontaneous decision to stop by the OC Fair! I'd never been and Nate and Jacquelyn had a corn on the cob craving so it ended up being a great choice and the light was delish.

Jaquelyn has the most amazing freckles... just like me :)

And then on Monday we woke up in the Bay Area and headed to Quicksilver for some AM hiking! Special thanks to J's mom for being an awesome support system. :)

So looking forward to your wedding next year at Holman Ranch- thanks for a great weekend!!!

Palm Springs Engagement Session : Brad and Jen

Real men wear pink. Another gem from my sister! Seriously, though, Brad and Jen are close friends of Tim and I and I can't be more exited to photograph their wedding next February in Palm Springs. I was shooting a wedding in LA and used the opportunity to jet out to the desert to capture their engagement photos! Love you guys!

Thanks to Miss Emthegem for keeping me company on the drive and being adorable holding balloons :)

Bay Area Wedding Photographer : Downtown Engagement Session : Melody and Steve

I was originally supposed to be in Los Angeles this whole week for work since I had a wedding in Malibu last Saturday and one in Santa Monica this Saturday but we birthed a house and I missed it very very much so I came home! :) Seriously, it really does sort of feel like our baby. More on that when things slow down :) Starting next Thursday I am officially on summer vacation for 6 glorious days where I am hoping to turn my computer on once a day! Until then, I'm going to try to churn out some substantial blog posts...

Melody and Steve were SUCH an amazing couple to photograph. They showed up to our shoot with no reservations at all- camera ready and super in love. We played around downtown and then headed out to Alviso for some sweet sunset light. Can't wait for their downtown wedding next month! (PS their engagement session is one of the featured sessions on my main sites engagement galleries.)

Onward!

San Francisco Engagement Shoot at Crissy Feild : Jillian and Dennis

Oh my, if we want to move we have to SELL THIS PLACE. Crazy .... crazy, crazy! While I was busy shooting two beautiful weddings this past weekend Tim and a handful of *kind* friends and family helped us move into our new home. We're in a shambles but blissful- can't believe we managed to pull this off but are so thankful and excited for all the fun, stressful, expensive, daunting, back-breaking- yet fulfilling tasks ahead of us!

There she is! The yard has a ways to go before it looks like THAT again- but we're working on it!

Less talk- more work is my motto these days! Onward to images.... shall we?

Jillian and Dennis tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii earlier this year but wanted some fun engagement photos before they headed off to get hitched. I met up with them at Crissy Field and spent a lovely San Francisco afternoon documenting their love.  Enjoy! :)

Bay Area Wedding Photograher : Los Gatos Engagement Session : Cathy and Mike

Confession: Cathy and Mike are already married!!! I will be following up this post tomorrow with their beautiful wedding images but I wanted to share their adorable laughter filled Los Gatos engagement session with you first. PS WE OFFICIALLY OWN A HOUSE! I am scrambling trying to remain 100% sane for my brides and grooms so forgive me if I am more quiet than usual. You can be guaranteed when things slow down I'll have MUCH to say. xoxo
