Bay Area Wedding Photographer : Engagement Session: Alex & Doug

Happy weekend!

I've been busy re-branding folks, working on a lot of changes and growth around here- I'm blogging about it so that my resident web designer husband Tim will see that I am serious about getting it up and running. ;) Maybe next time I should pay him so I can make demands? I'll just try to bat my eyelashes a little more often and see if that helps... something tells me it won't. Peanut butter cookies maybe? In any case, look out for some ch-ch-ch-changes!

It is raining cats and dogs here and it makes me feel like wrapping myself in a snuggie, making peanut butter cookies, and watching episode after episode of Entourage or some other delicious television show. I love winter!

It's officially engagement session season!

Alex loves Doug :)

We had so much fun running all over finding spots for them to tear it up and they were troopers when the day suddenly turned extremely freezing!

Happy Birthday to me! : Happy Valentines Day!

I had a birthday yesterday, the big 2-7! I'm not really one for going all crazy about my birthday... I mean, like anyone I enjoy a cupcake (or two) and love an excuse to take "meg time" but I'm just not good with attention. I love and appreciate everyone who gives it to me, it's just hard for me to accept it for some reason. I like to celebrate the big years- you better believe I'll be somewhere cool for the big 3-0 but 2-7?  I never could understand those people that claim they celebrate their birthday week... or seriously, their birthday month? My dear friend Jeff and I used to throw joint birthday parties and that was perfect- we were both able to dilute our "birthday attention" by sharing a party but now that he is in LA and I am in SJ I was on my own! So, I woke up late, went for a 3 mile run, drank coffee and ate oatmeal, lounged around, played tennis with my love, lounged around some more with the tv, hung out at my parents, and had a birthday dinner with family- it was a perfect day!

Just for fun, here are 27 things I am loving right now for your Valentines enjoyment!

Malini & Greg : Anytime Session and location ramblings

Malini found my blog by way of glamour.com and when her and her husband Greg found themselves scheduling a trip to the bay area she sent me an e-mail to set up a time to do a session- just for fun! It's so fun to have friends all around the country :) I've been spending a lot of time recently e-mailing clients about engagement session locations... like... a LOT of time. Don't get me wrong, it's important to find a location that will help set the tone for your photos and I love planning the look of shoots and hearing all about what my clients define their love by- however, it's also really important to remember that the images are about you and your love. The focus of my camera is not the bridge behind you, it's your eye, your laughter, your embrace. With Malini and Greg's session- since they weren't from the area I asked her to simply tell me what feeling she was going for.

I really love your nature pictures. It would really be nice to have a lot of green and fields and/or water close by.

With those two sentences I knew the look she was referring to and with her trust-  I just google street viewed a few streets around where they were staying and sent them the address of an antique store and the time of day when the light would be just right. We started off in the little down town area of Moss Landing and then found ourselves frolicking among strawberry fields....a simple location - a street no more than 500 yards long and a short drive into the Elkhorn Slough stopping wherever I thought looked best -  it was a pretty amazing day. All I'm saying is don't stress or over complicate things - within reason, finding and creating beauty in everything is - whether you knew it or not- part of why you chose me to photograph you!

Thanks for trusting me and for being so lovely! Can't wait to catch you in Chicago someday :)
