Kaumyar and Ashley - Anytime Session

When prospective clients view my website they stay there for an average of about 2.5 minutes before either leaving, bookmarking my site, or filling out a contact form. 2.5 minutes! I have 2.5 minutes to make a big enough impression on someone that they'd consider me to photograph one of the biggest days of their lives! I think one of the most important things in deciding who is going to be your photographer is to find someone who's work and personality you love. Such a large part of what's important about your wedding day is the experience and I wanted to find a way to show my clients a little bit of how their experience with me will be before they even meet me. I want them to walk into my home for a consult and already feel like they know a little bit about who I am and what type of imagery I am really about. So! I had the super great and talented Jeff Conrad direct a short video documenting one of my shoots for my main page. I just wanted something simple and romantic and I think Jeff pulled that off so amazingly well! Here are some of the final images that will end up in that video! (Check out the "HOME" link at the top of the page to view the video.)

One location, available light, + video light when it got darker due to impending rain, one assistant, Canon 5D, 50mm 1.2 lens, and two gorgeous clients!

Onward! (Thanks to Tim for being my grip/lighting/assistant/support for the day and to Gabe for loaning her gorgeous fainting couch!)

Chris and Tricia : Engaged!

It is so refreshing to work with clients who really get what I am about- who love my images and are just as excited about them as I am when the day is over. Chris and Tricia were the perfect kind of clients- creative, fun, enthusiastic, kind, and willing to trust me to drive them up and down steep hills in a golf cart. ;) We shot these images on the grounds of the beautiful Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA - the staff there was kind enough to loan us golf carts to roam the grounds as we please, which meant we got to go deep into the rolling green hills and knock our socks off. It was a perfect day- gorgeous weather, great spirits, and lots and lots of photos!

There weren't many industrial backgrounds around but we managed to find this area under a bridge to grab a different type of landscape at the very end of our shoot.

Tricia and Chris, congrats on your engagement and thank you so much for being such awesome people!!!!

Updates..

I am so excited that this week up north has been so full of love- from clients, friendly photographers now friends, friends, and family. It makes me feel wonderful to know that all my hard work trying to build my business in both southern and northern California is paying off. I so enjoy being up here and eventually will probably end up basing my business out of the Bay Area but for now it's just awesome to be able to go back and forth! Heading back to Los Angeles with a busy couple of weeks in store- excited to be back in the office with Timmy across the desk from me. We just booked tickets for the end of April to London and Dublin- can't wait to spend some time away from work together. :)

Couple images from my shoots this past weekend- little Jackson on the left and Tricia and Chris on the right.

Helen and Tyler : An Engagement : Carmel, CA

Over Christmas I had the lovely chance to spend the afternoon in Carmel with Helen and Tyler. I will be shooting their wedding at The Holly Farm in June and although Tyler and I have technically known each other since we were wee ones it was so great to reconnect and spend some time warming them up to the camera! My mom and Tyler's mom are friends from their Presentation High School days and when I heard that Tyler was engaged I made sure my mom told Tyler's mom, Maggie where she could find me! :) It's going to be such a beautiful day and I can't wait to be a part of it!

Mindy and Emily : Married!

Mindy contacted me after her and Emily had already been married for some Day-After shots. They didn't have a professional photographer at their wedding ceremony and wanted to get some shots done in their wedding outfits! I was so honored to be able to document their love and we had such a great time running all over Griffith Park!
