Underglaze – Beautiful eco-friendly attire for the kiddos!

Awhile back- like awhilllllllllle back I got to spend a sunny afternoon in Beverly Hills photographing some of the cutest kids ever in some of the cutest cotton shirts and onesies! Maile, the owner of Underglaze, has searched high and low for some of the most environmental friendly elements to sell only the most pure products. The cotton’s super soft since it’s peroxide-washed instead of bleached (better for the fabric, better for the environment) and is from a responsible co-op in India. She describes them as, “antiquarian prints hand-printed onto organic cotton clothing.”

The animal images featured on the clothing are all 19th century and were done as scientific studies. Maile loves the irony of how, through our modern eyes, they don’t look scientific at all, they just seem completely innocent and charming — perfect for kiddies.

The sports/leisure prints are also 19th century, mostly illustrations done for popular magazines of the day, a few of the images for girls come from sheet music or fashion magazines.

I think these pieces have such a timeless, vintage, quality about them and look so fresh and whimsical!  Here are some of my favorites from the day- If you’re interested in them check out Underglaze on Etsy @ underglaze.etsy.com.

Labor Day Sneak Peak : Blue Bridesmaids

Had the lovely pleasure of spending Sunday up in Healdsburg shooting Dana and Keith’s wedding at Trentadue Winery- thought I’d share a fun bridesmaids shot! I love a bride who brings along adorable details like matching blue parasols for her bridesmaids!

Hey Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, the bride was Dana Reedy- she was a Pres graduate!

Hey Megan – I was checking out your website and blog – amazing photos!!! I am pretty sure I went to Pres with the girl on the far right in this photo. She was two years ahead of me and we played soccer together. Small world!

I biked across the Golden Gate Bridge and all I got were these IPHONE photos.

On the day of my engagement (ee- these sparkles are still blinding me! :) my dad, my uncle, myself, and Timmy got up early and drove into SF to rent bikes and bike across the Golden Gate Bridge. I’ll admit, I was not entirely prepared for the length of this, what I thought was leisurely, bike ride- but it was really so much fun! I think we determined it was about an 18 mile bike ride. We ended up going all the way into Tiburon (yes I wore those tight skinny JEANS, and flat flat flat flats all the way there) for lunch and then took the ferry back to Fishermans Wharf. Highly recommended adventure! Anyhow, I was smart and didn’t try to lug my 5D across the Golden Gate on a bike but my dad wasn’t so smart and didn’t charge his camera before we left so all we had was Tim’s iphone- just thought I’d share. :) My butt still hurts. Just kidding!

Hope you all enjoy your labor day weekend- most of us photographers spend this weekend working but this weekends Napa wedding is on Sunday, so I plan to enjoy a day full of no labor tomorrow!  And Morgan AND Heather are going to be here- woooo hoooo I miss them!!!!

Helmuts are so hot right now.

Great pics…they even have a vintage-feel (go iPhone). Biking across the Golden Gate…how I miss that! A little scary at first, but oh so much fun. I hear the weather is just fantastic up there right now, too :)

These are some nice quality photos for a phone. ;) I especially like the shot of the Golden Gate bridge. (you know me and my love of landscapes.) :D An 18 mile bike ride must have been looooooong, and I’m surprised you did it in those skinny jeans and flats! Nice work. :)

Jen and Eric : Married! St. Dominic’s and Westin St. Francis – San Francisco Wedding

Working from the Bay Area is delightful! (especially when Los Angeles is burning!!!!) My mom and I have been running all over the Bay Area looking at wedding venues. I have my favorite…. {fingers crossed} Frankly, I’m getting tired of looking and do not want to stress myself out already! Couple more spots are maybe on the drive by list … we’ll see. Heading back to LA next week so we’d better get a move on!

Jen and Eric’s San Francisco wedding was an absolutely gorgeous affair. From their traditional church ceremony at the breath taking St. Dominic’s Church to their ultra stylized reception venue, The Westin St. Francis at Union Square they pulled out all the stops. It was so much fun to get to use the city landscapes for their portraits- I’ve grown so used to having fields and flowers to rely on. I love how urban their groups shots turned out- something different!

Thanks to the lovely Lili Durkin and Karen Santos for coming out and assisting me- it was a long day but we ROCKED it!

Good morning, September!

Thank you for all the well-wishes… you guys are the best!

So there was this venue that I had bookmarked for, oh, I don’t know, a year or so- that just had the perfect feel for what I wanted my wedding day to look like. Organic, Rustic, Elegant… Anthropologie….. ;) So, of course, being a wedding photographer, I am well aware of how quickly things book up- so I sent an email off to the owner about 2.5 seconds after I had this ring on my finger. What do ya know! BOOKED UP for all of 2010. At first I was bummed, discouraged, a little down. But that’s okay, no one ever said wedding planning was easy and as a book my mom and I purchased yesterday states, “Don’t aim for a perfect wedding- aim for a wonderful wedding.” I have a first hand view of how much work, thought, and stress goes into planning a wedding day so I guess I should have expected bumps! Looking at a pretty neat looking space later today up in Marin – wish me luck!

I started a new category up there called, A Photographers Wedding. Sorry if this totally doesn’t interest you at all but this blog is a personal space for me and I think this next year my head is definitely going to be in planning mode and how can I not share things with you all? So, if this bores you- I’ll understand .. just scroll down. ;)

Also, after next weekends Napa wedding I’ll be heading back to Los Angeles so be expecting a lot of blog catch up. If I know some of you, and I KNOW I know some of you, you’ve been refreshing the page daily waiting to see some of your images. ;)

Because a blog post is better with pictures- here are some highlights from Becky and Adam’s portrait time a little earlier in the summer.

Good luck at the venue in Marin! The venue I had in mind was booked all through 2010 as well! Can’t wait until you’re back in LA so we can start bouncing planning ideas off of each other. :)
And I adore that “whoosh” pic. Sooo cute!
