I always love when the eye is slightly closed so you can see the eye shadows

A little shooting for the soul..

My camera and I always need to be creatively reconnected this time of year. In a few weeks it gets put into the closet for a month while I recharge my brain but for now, I’m busy using it to photograph gorgeous people like these two. More from this day of shooting with my lovely interns Indu and Kristine soon!

Hey Meg, background almost looks like the engagement scene you did for us. Kept looking for it on the blog. ;)

Anytime Love : Malini and Greg : Olema, CA

Hi guys!

I had a weekend off and I feel like a new woman. Tim and I spent it working on the house (what else is new?) but it was so nice to just enjoy each other and our friends and family without the crazy pressure I put on myself when I have a wedding :) One time I was getting ready for a wedding and Tim was on the way out the door and said, “Is there anything you need at Target?” and I snapped… I CANT THINK ABOUT A TARGET LIST! I HAVE A WEDDING TODAY! Thank God Tim knows sane Meg too because I wouldn’t have blamed him if he had fled for the rest of the weekend. Seriously.. wedding weekends are so much more stress than just the actual shooting part. I know you wedding photographers can relate :) So! Needless to say, it was nice to just take a couple days to regroup!

Malini and Greg are not shy to my camera- they have been in front of it before. Malini emailed me a few months ago and told me that her and Greg were going to be spending much of this year living miles and miles apart from each other due to work and really wanted to document their love during a getaway trip to the Bay Area so they could remember the moment during the tough times ahead. I was so excited to meet up with them again and had so much fun running around the grounds at their Olema bed and breakfast.

Let’s get to the images, shall we? :)

I totally remember this couple, they are adorable and her eye for outfits is superb! Love it Meg, you really captured them!

John Staedler : Portraits

Las Vegas and me …. well we have a real love/hate thing going on. Had such an amazing and inspiring week hanging out with 16,000 photographers from all over the world at the annual WPPI Convention. Of course, nights out until 5am (yes, you read that right) and early morning classes took their tole and I am, as usual, battling the WPPI SARS as some like to call it. But, it’s so worth it! Some of my very best friendships have developed over late-night pizza and early morning Starbucks in casinos… so happy to have seen old friends and meet new ones and am so ready and recharged to take on this years weddings with passion and love for our industry!

One of my 2011 goals was to offer my shooting skills to people who I find particularly inspiring. It’s easy to get lost in the wedding world and its nice to feel inspired by something other than a Louboutin sometimes. :) Tim and I frequent the open mic night at Cafe Trieste in downtown San Jose and when I heard John perform I just knew I had to photograph him. He’s so creative and has such an interesting presence. He was down for whatever so he came over to our place and we had some fun!

Onward!

He is fantastic in the front of the camera. Amazing faces and expressions. I love the use of color and b/w mix photographs. Good framing of the photographs. Well done.

Happy Birthday to me! : Happy Valentines Day!

I had a birthday yesterday, the big 2-7! I’m not really one for going all crazy about my birthday… I mean, like anyone I enjoy a cupcake (or two) and love an excuse to take “meg time” but I’m just not good with attention. I love and appreciate everyone who gives it to me, it’s just hard for me to accept it for some reason. I like to celebrate the big years- you better believe I’ll be somewhere cool for the big 3-0 but 2-7?  I never could understand those people that claim they celebrate their birthday week… or seriously, their birthday month? My dear friend Jeff and I used to throw joint birthday parties and that was perfect- we were both able to dilute our “birthday attention” by sharing a party but now that he is in LA and I am in SJ I was on my own! So, I woke up late, went for a 3 mile run, drank coffee and ate oatmeal, lounged around, played tennis with my love, lounged around some more with the tv, hung out at my parents, and had a birthday dinner with family- it was a perfect day!

Just for fun, here are 27 things I am loving right now for your Valentines enjoyment!

27. BHLDN – Anthropologie does weddings! | 26. Bittersweet NY | 25. Bi-Rite Creamery | 24. Steel-cut Oatmeal | 23. Live the Dream | 22. Emerson Made | 21. Labokoff | 20. With Style & Grace | 19. That’ll keep you busy at work today! :)
