The Drybar : No cuts, no colors, just blow outs : $35

A couple of  months ago I did some commercial photos for Alli Webb’s new Brentwood hair venture, The Dry Bar. You know that awesome blow-out your hair stylist gives you when you go get a cut and color that lasts for two days (or three… or four…) ?? Well, that’s just what The Dry Bar offers…. you can pop by and get your hair did for that big interview, mtg, date, or weekend for just $35! They have a menu full of super fun style options named after yummy cocktails like, The Mai Tai (messy, beachy),The Manhatten (sleek and smooth) or The Cosmopolitan (loose curls). They are opening soon but are already booking month passes and offering tons of great deals so check it out and tell Alli I sent you! I might just be sitting in the chair next to you ;)

Check out this super cute video of Alli putting some finishing touches on the window’s at The Dry Bars Brentwood location opening soon!

I will admit that I spoiled myself a bit, before having little ones. Okay… Maybe a lot. When I was having a bad hair day (2+ times a week), I would go to the salon just to get my hair styled. This glmaour cost me about 60 bucks a pop, so I for one, LOVE THIS IDEA! I mean I REALLY, REALLY LOVE THIS IDEA! I think your get the point. I cannot wait until the photo section is up on the website, so I can see your amazing work close up Meg!

Outstanding in the Field : Wattles Farm

Earlier this month my best friend since I was one, Aubrey, and her Outstanding in the Field crew came through Los Angeles to host their last dinner of their 2009 tour at Wattles Farm. I’ve talked about Outstanding in the Field before but if you’ve never heard about what they do check their site out or buy a ticket to one of their dinners. It’s really a neat take on outdoor dining. The chef at the dinner I attended was Neal Fraser of Grace Restaurant in Los Angeles. Last year I did a bit more official documenting, this year I did more sipping wine and chatting but I did manage to snag a few good ones.

ABC Workshop – Andaz West Hollywood – Liene Stevens of Think Splendid

Earlier this week Beth Helmstetter asked me if I wouldn’t mind photographing an ABC Workshop on Social Media. Um, not only would I not mind but I’d love a chance to hear Liene Stevens of Think Splendid (formerly The Smart Planner) share her wisdom on blogging, twittering, facebook, etc!!

The florals for the event were done by the lovely Carissa of JL Designs. You can see tons of her amazing work on blogs like Style Me Pretty and can also check out what she has to say on her blog here!

Lauren Harris of Lulu’s Sweets  provided some tasty treats for everyone to enjoy. They have adorable favor options for your guests and have been featured on Daily Candy. Check ‘em out!

Couldn’t resist the cheese, nuts, and bread spread. The way to my heart? Cheese and bread. Sick sick sick!

This is the view from the top floor of the Andaz- there is also a beautiful patio that would make for a great cocktail hour! If you’re a bride looking for a pretty modern looking venue- check this place out! That’s Leila Khalil on the right there- the brains and braun behind Be Inspired PR.

And finally, a few of Liene enlightening the room on ways to use social media to skyrocket your business.

Outstanding in the Field

Back in October (I swear, I am totally catching up!!!) my very best friend Aubrey stopped by Los Angeles with her touring culinary comrades, Outstanding in the Field, to cook up a local grown meal at Wattles Farm in Hollywood and I tagged along with her and photographed away. The meal was prepared by Grace Restaurants Brooks Townsend and company. It was truly an amazing experience and totally recommended for anyone to enjoy. I also thought some of these photos would be great inspiration for a really simple organic-inspired wedding. Especially the long beautiful table! Taken from their website:

“Our mission is to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it. Outstanding in the Field is a roving culinary adventure – literally a restaurant without walls. Since 1999 we have set the long table at farms or gardens, on mountain tops or in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Occasionally the table is set indoors: a beautiful refurbished barn, a cool greenhouse or a stately museum. Wherever the location, the consistent theme of each dinner is to honor the people whose good work brings nourishment to the table. Ingredients for the meal are almost all local (sometimes sourced within inches of your seat at the table!) and generally prepared by a celebrated chef of the region. After a tour of the site, we all settle in: farmers, producers, culinary artisans, and diners sharing the long table.”

So enjoy some photos and check out their website and founder, Jim Deneven’s, cookbook Outstanding in the Field: A Farm to Table Cookbook.
